“Git Demystified”
One hour to “grokking” Git — a video demo
Git seemed mysterious, when I first started using it for version control back in 2010.
It was a different paradigm — and took some getting used to.
Eventually, perseverance paid off, and I “got” it.
And then became eager to share those insights with others.
So in 2014, I gave this presentation at USC, as part of SoCal Code Camp. That seemed to spark some “aha” moments in others as well.
The talk is now on YouTube [50 minutes].
I hope you and your team find it useful. 🎉
Notes:
- Even now, the comparisons to SVN are worth watching, as we delve into essential qualities that make Git unique.
- We also dig into Git’s internal object store — so you can see firsthand, in detail, exactly how Git does what it does.
